SolidFire, a provider of all-solid-state (SSD) primary storage systems for cloud service providers, announced today that Dave Wright, founder and CEO, will be both a tutorial presenter and a panel participant at the Flash Memory Summit, taking place on August 21-23 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
Wright's first session is a tutorial called Enterprise Storage Design, where he will cover "Tiered versus All-SSD Approaches in the Cloud" on Tuesday, August 21, at 2:35 p.m. local time. In his session, Wright will look at the current cloud storage landscape and the challenges that cloud service providers face when offering scalable block storage services. He will also discuss the benefits and costs of the many different ways in which flash is being used within cloud storage architectures today.
The second session is a panel called "Designing Storage Systems in the SSD Era" that will take place on Wednesday, August 22, from 9:50 to 10:50 a.m. local time. Wright will join other flash industry experts in a session that will explain how to take full advantage of SSDs' high speeds and fast access times and how to choose the right interface for specific applications, as well as maximize bandwidth and lifetime. The session will feature the effects of virtualization, and provide attendees with advice on how to achieve the best ROI. Finally, participants will discuss the most common bottlenecks and errors designers face when using SSDs.
