Sessions, demos, robots, socks: SolidFire at OpenStack Summit Tokyo

A variety of forces are propelling OpenStack further into prime time, with enterprise needs noticeably driving new features. Don’t miss these five sessions at OpenStack Summit Tokyo that dig deeper into the unique requirements of enterprises looking to deploy OpenStack clouds.

In its recently released report “OpenStack Is Now Ready For Business,” Forrester declares OpenStack has matured enough to be fit for production. The rate at which OpenStack’s code and governance processes have matured is undoubtedly having a positive effect on the cloud platform’s adoption, particularly among enterprise customers.

… Which makes the upcoming OpenStack Summit in Tokyo even more compelling; a variety of market forces are propelling OpenStack further into prime time, and enterprise needs in particular are noticeably driving new features and existing feature enhancements.

SolidFire has five sessions at this Summit, many of which highlight the unique requisites enterprises bring to the table when looking to deploy OpenStack clouds, as well as OpenStack’s expanding ecosystem of partners and users.

Tuesday, October 27, 5:30-6:10 p.m., Gyoko  |  A Conversation With Cinder Developers Panel

Wednesday, October 28, 2:00-2:40 p.m., Seigyoku  |  The OpenStack Orchestra: The Next Wave of OpenStack Specialist Startups

Wednesday, October 28, 2:50-3:30 p.m., Gyoko  |  The Stack and Beyond: Analysis Paralysis Panel – Gyoko

Thursday, October 29, 1:50-2:30 p.m, Gyoko  |  Persisting Data In Your Cloud with Cinder Block Storage Session

Thursday, October 29, 3:30-4:10 p.m., Gyoko  |  Block Storage Replication with Cinder Session

One such enterprise-driven feature is Live Migration – moving OpenStack instances from one compute server to another, non-disruptively. Not all instances in OpenStack are “cattle”; despite OpenStack admins’ best efforts, they may occasionally find themselves with a “pet” instance that needs to be migrated. No longer relegated to shared storage, Live Migration of instances is now supported by SolidFire’s Cinder block storage.

But don’t just take our word for it, stop by booth #S12 to see a demonstration. You can come for the demo, and stay for socks, stickers, and other short demos showcasing how to configure SolidFire for use in OpenStack, creating and modifying volume types backed by SolidFire’s Quality of Service, and how to deploy SolidFire with Platform9 and Mirantis OpenStack. And if the Force is with you, enter our drawing to win a BB-8 robot from the forthcoming (and eagerly anticipated, at least by this blogger) Star Wars film.
