Percona Live & OpenStack Live: Optimize your database core and maximize your cloud
Relational databases and cloud deployments: mutually exclusive, right? Not so fast. Cloud-based database workloads are among the top use cases for OpenStack. In fact, MySQL is far and away the most commonly used database in OpenStack deployments.
So it seems a natural fit to combine databases and cloud at this year’s Percona Live/OpenStack Live event in Santa Clara, California. For SolidFire, this is our first-ever Percona Live event. We’re eagerly anticipating meeting MySQL and OpenStack users and showing how SolidFire can guarantee performance to every application, MySQL database, and Nova instance. And never fear — we’re bringing plenty of our ever popular SolidFire socks!
What: Percona Live/OpenStack Live
When: April 13-16, 2015
Where: Santa Clara Convention Center, Booth #211
Virtual: #PerconaLive, #MySQL, #OpenStack follow along @SolidFire
Here are some of the places to connect with us next week:
4:30 pm to 6:30 pm: Join us in the Exhibit Hall for the Welcoming Reception! We’ll have our must-have socks on hand, as well as demos on MySQL backup & restore and replication cloning, along with how to create Cinder volume types and extra specs in OpenStack.
11:05 am to 1:30 pm, 3 pm to 4:30 pm: Exhibit Hall is open! Quick question: What would you do if storage wasn’t a barrier? Roving reporters Kelly Boeckman, SolidFire’s Product Marketing Manager, (me! @kelcan21) and Chris Merz, SolidFire’s Database Systems Architect, (@merzdba) will be on hand conducting mini-interviews for our Elements of SolidFire podcast. Stop by our booth #211 to let us know your thoughts.
1:20 pm, Room 210: Leveraging OpenStack Cinder for Peak Application Performance Curious about how to utilize OpenStack’s Cinder and Trove? Attend to learn all about it. SolidFire’s Steve Walchek, Business Development Manager, and Chris Merz, Database Systems architect, along with Tesora founder and CTO Amrith Kumar, will be talking about how to leverage OpenStack Cinder for peak application performance.
10:35 am to 1 pm, 2:40 pm to 3:45 pm: Exhibit Hall is open! The OpenStack portion of the show is now over, but we’ll still be on hand talking MySQL. And we’ll still have socks! Chris Merz (@merzdba) and I (@kelcan21) will still be exercising our roving reporting skills with on-the-floor interviews.
2:00 pm, Ballroom H: Managing Scale Through Consolidation: Attend this session to learn how to avoid over-provisioning storage to improve performance, reduce replication slave creation times from hours to seconds, and much more! Chris Merz, Database Systems Architect, will be presenting on how to manage MySQL scale through consolidation.
5:20 pm to 7:00 pm: Community Networking Reception: Shake hands, talk shop, and get your networking on. And don’t miss Chris Merz’s lightning talk at 5:30 during the reception. He’ll be talking fast about 300x faster replication slave creation.
10 am to 1 pm: Last chance for the Expo Hall, socks, and to prognosticate on technology futures with Chris (@merzdba) and myself (@kelcan21) for the Elements of SolidFire podcast.
If you want to optimize MySQL deployments and maximize your OpenStack cloud, make sure to attend one of our sessions and stop by booth #211.
See you in Santa Clara!
