SolidFire has updated the OS for its cloud-style all-flash storage system. Called Carbon, version 6 of the company's Element OS will add features to what was already a very functional device. The new features include remote data replication to support disaster recovery, the ability to build SolidFire's clustered scale-out storage systems using mixed node types, support for Fibre Channel and the ability to copy snapshots into object-based storage for backup. The OS update will ship to SolidFire's service-provider and enterprise customers in the second quarter.
